Trossachs Yurts
Kate Sankey has taken the natural and cultural assets of West Moss-side and over the last 15 years built a successful rural business, alongside her 150 acre sustainable farm.
West Moss-side is just outside Thornhill, and although being only 20 minutes from Stirling has the peaceful feeling of being miles away from hustle and bustle, this is helped by its hidden location down a beautiful lane.
The incredible setting and Kate’s creative and entrepreneurial spirit led to her introducing the award winning Trossachs Yurts. These three exclusive, secluded and authentic yurts provide super luxurious glamping for families to spend special time together, or for an escape to the country and chance to chill.
Kate is a basket maker and you’ll find her work alongside the other six creative artists that make up the West Moss-side Collective. She is particularly proud of the new rooms that are now being used as galleries, meetings rooms, workshop space and as a conference venue - ‘The space is creative, it inspires new ways of thinking, with a comfortable, airy, IT-friendly environment. We think that is also an ideal place for people to meet, clear their heads and have productive and undistracted meetings’.
Andrew Barrowcliffe , former owner and chef of Venachar Lochside was himself drawn to West Moss-side, moving quickly from visitor to resident chef, basing his own business there and introducing a development kitchen. He said ‘I was so impressed with the seasonal, natural, wild, organic and nutritious food available on the farm, that I immediately saw amazing new opportunities to provide my clients with something unique and special’.
Andy has won many awards for his skills of combining incredible flavours with outstanding presentation. As well as offering incredible food to the people staying at Trossachs Yurts, Andy provided catering for occasions and businesses around the area. Look out too for his new outside catering shepherd’s hut – a moveable feast!
